An investigation has been launched after a man suffered serious injuries in a suspected stabbing in Houghton.

Emergency services, including the Great North Air Ambulance, were called to reports of a fight involving two men at an address in Burns Avenue South, Houghton, shortly after 1pm today (Tuesday, July 21).

One man suffered serious but non life-threatening injuries ‘consistent with a stabbing’, Northumbria Police say.
