Ipswich Town have suffered an injury blow ahead of the crucial League One clash with Sunderland on Saturday, with influential full-back Luke Garbutt ruled out through injury.

The Everton loanee has been a crucial part of Paul Lambert’s side this season, their third top scorer in all competitions with six goals.

One of those came against Sunderland during the 1-1 draw at Portman Road earlier in the campaign.

Garbutt came off last week early in the 4-1 defeat to Peterborough United.

"He's struggling,” Lambert told eadt. "

“He's not as bad as we first feared which is the plus side of it but he's out for this one.

"He's been great and has got better and better. With his assists, goals and delivery he's been great for us but this gives somebody else and opportunity.”

Myles Kenlock replaced Garbutt last weekend, and while Lambert brought in extra cover on that side during the January window, Preston North End loanee Josh Earl is also a doubt after suffering a facial injury in training.

"He's doing alright Josh and is upbeat with it,” Lambert said.

“We're looking at whether he can wear the mask but I'm not sure too many people like wearing them.”

Ipswich will also be without right wing-back Gwion Edwards, who is suspended.

Midfielder Teddy Bishop will be missing due to injury, though Emyr Huws is available.

Lambert also has a big decision to make in goal, with Tomas Holy hoping to get the nod ahead of Wolves loanee Will Norris.
